Dispute-Eater Brings a Five-Year-Old Dispute to a Full Stop.
Many cases continue in courts for years, while the very purpose of pursuing the litigation gradually fades into the background. The law is used as a weapon, lawyers as strategists, and courts as battlefields, with the parties trying to defeat each other. As a result, the resolution of the dispute takes a back seat, and the litigation itself becomes a new problem.
Background of the Case.
A woman filed a case against her husband at the Women Police Station, Muzaffarpur, alleging dowry-related harassment. During the hearing of the husband’s bail application before the Patna High Court, an order was passed directing him to pay ₹3,000 per month to his wife as maintenance. The husband sometimes made the payment but defaulted on other occasions.
Five years passed, yet not a single witness had been examined before the court. The dispute gradually became centred on the amount of maintenance allegedly outstanding. The wife claimed that ₹1,00,000 was due, whereas the husband maintained that the outstanding amount was only ₹30,000.
Meanwhile, both parties had remarried. Despite being aware of each other’s remarriage, conflicting claims regarding their marital status continued to be made before the court.
While the litigation made no substantial progress for five years, Dispute-Eater took the initiative to find a solution.
Dispute-Eater contacted the husband’s advocate. Both parties were counselled, and a path of dialogue was pursued to bring the dispute to an end. Eventually, the husband agreed to settle the dispute by paying a lump sum of ₹1,50,000.
Thus, Dispute-Eater successfully brought a dispute that had continued since 2021 to a Full-Stop.
